The Food:

I would call this VEGAN HEAVEN! Their menu offers every type of American food you can imagine in from milkshakes to "chicken wings"--and did I mention they serve breakfast ALL day? To me, its all about the seasoning and everything I have tried is FLAVOR-PACKED. Pictured: Southern Fried Wings, the CHICKPEA fried strips are originally COATED with one SAUCE, but since I wanted to try all the sauces the servers were able to put them on the side.

I've dined here with friends and gone on dates with vegan and non-vegan eaters and they NEVER LEAVE HUNGRY. The servers have always been helpful when asked for suggestions and are very attentive. Besides their 100% vegan friendly menu, they also accommodate wheat, soy and nut-free options.

Quick Tip: There is limited seating and the food takes a while to come out of the kitchen during the weekdays, but weekends and nights tend to be much quicker.

I've tried many vegan pizzas, but this is the FIRST VEGAN DEEP DISH pizza! This small pizza spot in Arlington does not fall short on QUALITY since they also have locations in California, Washington, New York, New Jersey and many other states. Although there are LIMITED PLANT-BASED OPTIONS, I still drool over EVERY SMELL and BITE! What makes deep pizza different? This fully-loaded veggie pizza is not only BALANCED with flavorful homemade sauce but its THICKNESS allows for more TOPPINGS and more VEGAN CHEESE. Pictured: Large deep-dish pizza MARINATED with half HABANERO, half POMODORO, TOPPED with vegan cheese, red onion, green peppers, and pineapple chunks. Did I mention they offer many EGG-FREE and GLUTEN-FREE OPTIONS?

It was a typical night in NYC, just left an underground arcade room and wanted a midnight snack, so I WAS CRAVING TREATS. It’s always been a struggle finding vegan pastry spots that stay open late. But I actually found one open that night. Since this was the first ALL PLANT-BASED doughnut spot, I ordered a DOZEN of their ORGANIC, HAND-MADE donuts. My favorite were definitely the CLASSIC GLAZED DONUTS—blueberry and the classic. SOFT like a donut, AIRY like a donut and literally tasted like a KRISPY KREME glazed donut but BETTER. Since they make their donuts in-house and fresh every day, you can TASTE the QUALITY.  My non-vegan friends really liked the sprinkled Simpson and chocolate donut!

I do want to point out that the staff were SO FRIENDLY and even gave us a few free donuts since they were closing up for the night. Even better, DUN-WELL has been DONATING donuts to hospitals during the PANDEMIC so on top of the fact they use plant-based organic ingredients you can feel LESS GUILTY knowing that they are GIVING BACK to the NYC COMMUNITY.

During the QUARANTINE, their BROOKLYN LOCATION is delivering through Postmates and I heard that they sell their sweets at WHOLE FOODS & CAFES throughout the city. Can’t wait till quarantine is over.

This spot got my eye while looking at their food pics on their website. It is now one of my TOP 5 FAVORITE vegan restaurants of ALL TIME! Even though I’ve only been once (last week), EVERYTHING about the restaurant was PERFECT. The indoor & outdoor plant aesthetics, the attentive and friendly servers, and of course the ELEGANTLY plated and FRESH food varieties!!

Pictured: “Cauliflower Tots” topped with truffle almond parmesan. Talk about FANCY. Slightly crunchy outer layer with a PUNGENT BURST of truffle! If you’ve never tried truffle it has a strong taste and smell. Almost like garlic or mushrooms and a spongy and soft, texture and mellow aftertaste. I also ordered the light yet filling “Quesadillas” which I was so happy about since I haven’t had a restaurant quesadilla since before going VEGAN...so YEARSSS.

As if that wasn’t enough they gave us a 30% discount (because of my birthday) that I didn’t even ask for! Needless to say I’m definitely going back!! PS: the best time to go is the DAYTIME when you will enjoy all of the natural lighting and vibrant plantas (plants) in/out doors. AND if you enjoy wine, they have HALF OFF BOTTLES on Wednesdays!

While the menu had many delicious-sounding options my dinner entrees left much to be desired. The portion sizes were small and one entree had more flavors than the other. Not a happy surprise. Their in-house baked zepppoli's (Italian donuts) and attentive servers allowed me to leave with a smile but that is it. I will be giving this upscale  restaurant another visit so stay tuned. Just remember--they are strict about reserving ahead!

Spoiler alert: Next door to V-Street is everything you would expect in Philly-- a vegan spot with cheese steaks and cheese fries! Wiz Kid. I've said too much...

Can you believe I took a trip to this bakery TWICE this month! The first visit was a quick stop to grab some desserts during the weekend but they had already ran out of many of the desserts by mid day!  So I took a second trip with a friend (she used to be vegan) and she was OBSESSED with the chocolate drizzled Somoa Bars. If you like chocolatey, chewy, and hints of caramel, these bars will definitely satisfy your SWEET TOOTH. I on the other hand, love fluffy, airy baked goods with powerful tastes!

Pictured is the cheesy jalapeno cornbread, special walnut muffin, and a blueberry basil donut! Yeah I went a little crazy, but the descriptions on these desserts were TO DIE FOR! CREATIVE, DELICIOUS, WHOLESOME are thee words to describe their in-house baked pastries. These as well as many of their menu items spoke true culinary creativity. The way this bakery combines flavors to create one pasty is REFRESHING and GENIUS.

Think American food perfectly cooked to the next level. Can you? I have dined here too many times to not recognize their all-around unique and plate-pleasing food. From their tempeh Richeous Reuben to their cashew Mackin Cheeze the combination of ingredients are masterfully executed. Pictured is the Roma Flatbread with slow roasted tomatoes and their mouth-watering pesto! If you haven't gone I recommend going a little bit early on a Friday and Saturday since students tend to have the place jammed packed! Of all the restaurants I've dined, Veganized is one of the few I give 5 STARS. Their food always demonstrates continued quality ingredients and flavors accompanied by a modern hospitable ambiance.

My only regret is that they do not serve breakfast only Brunch for a few hours on the weekends.

The Food:

I came for the desserts and left wanting more. With the line almost outside the door, it makes sense that it was rated TOP 100 RESTAURANTS of 2017. Sad-fully I only came in because it was the ONLY FOOD SPOT in downtown that served VEGAN DESSERTS late at night. Just peeping at their menu they offered many vegan options for starters, salads, bowls and pizzas, but not entrees. Just keep that in mind! I definitely want to come back to try at least one of their acclaimed creative and delicious dishes!

Quick Tip: You don't have to wait until you are in Chicago to try it. True Food Kitchen is all over the US so keep them in mind next time you want a quick and nutritious bite!

Good food done right. I always appreciate local eateries not only add creativity and flavor but also prepare each dish fresh with quality ingredients. You could honestly smell the fresh fruits and veggies in the air. DID I MENTION they are also a juicery--fresh raw juice, smoothies and cocktails! I missed out on that part, but I DO NOT REGRET delighting every sip of their signature hot chocolate. Back in my I-HOP days, hot cocoa used to be my go-to. Just having it on the menu brought back a burst of excitement. I also tried their Thai Peanut Burger. Creativity at its finest. Their hearty beet and onion house patty topped with caramelized ingredients and a light crunch gave me that WOW factor that you always hope for when going to a new restaurant.

I was happily surprised to find a vegan restaurant near the hotel we were staying at and OPEN LATE! Awarded the BEST VEGETARIAN SPOTS in Dallas, the quality and creativity in the food speaks for itself. Pictured is the "El Macho Nacho". I also ordered the "Smoked Artichoke & Sausage Pizza" which I managed to finish in ONE SITTING. I IMMEDIATELY TASTED that quality. The food was thoughtfully prepared and executed with texture and flavor in every bite. I was very tempted to ORDER a few MORE meals for the road, but then remembered the hotel did not have a fridge. I also appreciated the ambiance--courteous servers and vertical sliding windows letting in a natural outdoor breeze.
